Mr. Flavianus William Lughuyu
Swahili & Social Studies Teacher

Bachelor of Education

Mr. Flavianus William Lughuyu, a devoted father of three, embarked on his teaching journey in 1995 at St. Constantine International School. Over the course of his remarkable career, he undertook multiple roles, including that of a teacher, home room teacher, head of the humanities department, and house master (patron), illustrating his dedication and versatility.

His commitment extended over an impressive 18 years at St. Constantine International School before he assumed the role of Head of School at Muriet Secondary School for two years. Following this, he lent his leadership skills to Shepherd Secondary School as Head of School for another two years before taking on the position of Deputy Head at Hady Secondary School.

Mr. Lughuyu's teaching philosophy is underpinned by three core principles: student-centeredness, teamwork, and a stance against corporal punishment. He firmly believes in empowering students to take an active role in their learning process, allowing them the time and space to engage with their studies independently. His conviction is that when students take ownership of their learning, their understanding deepens and endures.

In any educational institution, Mr. Lughuyu underscores the importance of teamwork, recognizing that unity is indeed strength. Collaborative efforts among educators, students, and staff are essential for the institution's advancement.

Crucially, he rejects the use of corporal punishment as an educational tool. Instead, he advocates for open and friendly communication when students make mistakes. By addressing their errors with empathy and understanding, he believes that it fosters positive relationships and prompts positive changes in behavior.

Mr. Lughuyu's commitment to student-centered teaching, teamwork, and nurturing positive relationships underscores his dedication to the holistic development and well-being of both students and the educational institutions he serves.
